At home here in Nigeria and even around the world with the increasing issues of dwindling resources, increased poverty and joblessness as well as a new breed of terrorism. The challenges we face today cannot be solved by yesterday’s thinking.

Myles Munroe says “Jesus’ leadership style shows us that true leadership demands that we always consider new ways to solve old problems.  He never dealt with old problems in old ways. “

Inspired by Psalm 72:1-7 & Rick Warren’s commentary on these verses “… so that the king may care for the widow and orphan, support the oppressed, defend the defenseless, care for the sick, assist the poor, speak up for the foreigner, those in prison.” Basically, he’s talking about all the marginalized in society.

I am concerned with the steps we are still taking to solve our enormous problems for example 2000 jobs created by the Federal Government or 500 houses per state as well as singular focus on military might to talks terrorism and solve problems for millions of people.

These are not innovative solutions in view of the enormous challenges which must be addressed now. Alvin Toffler said it well: “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn”. Innovation is arguably the largest single driver of economic growth.” – PricewaterhouseCoopers

The great Buckminster Fuller defined this pattern when we wrote this: “You never change anything by fighting the existing. To change something, build a new model and make the existing obsolete.”  Yet it’s seems we are repeating the mistakes of the past using exactly the same formulae in a world that has changed drastically.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., serving as a prophetic voice, said this: If today’s church does not recapture the sacrificial spirit of the early church, it will lose its authenticity, forfeit the loyalty of millions, and be dismissed as an irrelevant social club with no meaning for the twentieth century.

What we must do we must do now, build new models!
