One of the dangers of ministry is that we can begin to think our position is evidence that we are somehow better than others.
We are not.
Many of us were simply chosen.
Like the firstborn in Scripture, the priesthood was not necessarily based on merit. It was an assignment, a responsibility, and a stewardship.
Being chosen should make us more humble, not more proud.
It should make us more conscious of our responsibility before God and towards people.
I have also been reflecting on worship and prayer.
Too often we think our job is to get people to worship, thank God, or pray.
Perhaps our first responsibility is much simpler:
To worship.
To give thanks.
To pray.
To stand before God sincerely ourselves.
Leadership in worship is not first about instruction. It is about example.
The angels cry, โHoly, Holy, Holyโ not because they are leading a meeting, but because they have seen something of God that leaves them in perpetual wonder.
Today my heart became even heavier when I saw reports that schools in parts of the East were shutting down in concern and solidarity until the kidnapped students from Oyo State are safely recovered.
That reminded me of what real intercession looks like.
Real intercession is not performance.
It is not religious activity.
It is being touched by the pain of others.
It is carrying a burden that is not directly yours.
It is standing in the gap.
We live in a society that once prided itself on protecting children, honouring the elderly, and valuing human life.
Today we increasingly hear of kidnapping, violence, and the destruction of lives for gain.
Something deeper is broken.
And perhaps that is why my heart hurts today.
The issue has always been the heart of man.
God knew this long before we did.
That is why He sent His Son.
The transformation of a nation begins with the transformation of a heart.
May God restore compassion where there is indifference.
May God restore conscience where there is corruption.
May God restore courage where there is fear.
And may He teach us again what it means to stand in the gap.
