Fathers Day Interactive Service – 18th June, 2017. Video excerpts from: The Untold Truth About Men! Pastor TD Jakes.
This Father’s Day at The Bridge Network was not the usual time of family games, drama and funfair that is characteristic of most of such events in churches, ours inclusive. Rather it was quite a memorable and auspicious occasion.
At The Bridge Network, we know that no two services run quite the same way all the time, with the Spirit of God in charge, you never know….so this particular service started out quite on a high note, more so for the cheer and expectations of another hilarious Father’s Day celebration amongst us congregants. Worship was a time of joy and celebration for the gift and privilege of fatherhood, testimonies and praise abound graciously extolling the names of the father of all fathers, our Lord God Almighty. But the truly memorable moment began during the interactive session, when Pastor Francis called up a mix of fathers on the platform to talk about their journey and experience of fatherhood in these end times. Four video clips from Pastor TD Jakes’ sermon titled, THE UNTOLD TRUTH ABOUT MEN formed the basis of this eye opening session.
In the first video clip – MOST WOMEN HAVE NEVER HEARD A MAN TALK, Pastor TD Jakes expresses a woman’s deep need and yearning to have her man talk to her from somewhere deep within his heart, about his true feelings, struggles and longings. She yearns to understand even his silence and would do anything, offer up her body and everything in it, just to get a glimpse of what goes on between his ears and to be engaged in a stream of conversation with her man, that goes beyond ‘NOTHING’!
Some women’s knowledge of a man or men, have come from the experience or conversations of some woman whose husband was absent or silent, so to such women there’s a mysticism about the male man.
In considering this trait common with most men, the fathers in the panel explained that…’ The man is very different from the woman in their make up whereas a woman can multitask and think as she speaks a man needs time to process thoughts, information, even their experiences before they can communicate and so a woman needs to be more understanding of this and more trusting to allow time for meaningful conversations to flow naturally’ between her and her man’.
The second video clip shows men’s struggle with the responsibilities of manhood. He would never admit it, but he knows it, that IT IS HARD TO BE A MAN. He never got a manual telling him what to expect as a man or any major preparations to embrace manhood, or a guide to follow after in becoming a man. Whereas his sister started playing mum at age two, he played with toy cars that left no lasting impressions or lessons for what lay ahead. Grandmas and moms taught daughters to become mums, wife and nurturers early in their lives but there was no training to prepare the little boy for the responsibilities that came with being a man and father. That’s why most walk away and give up on it.
It was a rather sad discovery that there were not enough guides, fathers or father figures, to journey through the maze of fatherhood with. The fathers were either too busy working to provide for the family, some just seem to die too early or just can’t handle the pressures and walk away from it all because no one ever prepared them for the responsibilities of fatherhood, no one ever admitted to them how hard it is to be a real man.
… “It takes a male to be a dad, but it takes a man to be a father”.
‘O Man, be encouraged, you may not have had any lessons to navigate the different stages of manhood and no body to walk you through them, but never ever give up!
Your divine maker will guide you through to the end. Man, you will make it, if you would just keep going’…. (paraphrase).
In the third clip, the emphasis is on understanding the way a man loves. A man loves differently than a woman, but it doesn’t mean he does not love, he has deep emotions and compassion. Women should understand this about the man and not expect him to love like a fellow woman would. She should learn to accept this and not put him in a mold.
You can win with men if you talk to them intellectually, negotiate with facts and not just feelings. A wife can win with her husband if she would just be his wife and not his pastor. Don’t preach at him, condemn or compare him to any other man. Let the home be his castle and he the king in his kingdom.
Finally, now this was the eye opener, to think that all the confusion, misunderstandings, hardship and separation happening in homes was all intentional from the pit of hell just to frustrate and wipe out the man, the heir, and leave the woman bereft and miserable.
Ladies beware, the devil is out to kill the male man, who is the seed of the woman. Satan is on The hunt for the good men and sons because this is the seed that will bruise its head, and so he torments the man with all sorts of hardship so that the man is bent over with despair even of life, making him succumb to death such that the male man is almost becoming extinct. We hear of crib deaths of more baby boys than girls, lower male mortality age, higher infant mortality for boys, massive attack on the man on all sides, drugs, curses and perversions of all kinds, WE HAVE GOT TO FIGHT BACK!
We have to stand our ground in the place of prayer, we have to take back our sons, our men, our homes. This is the turning point, the auspicious moment, our men will fight for their lives and we would also fight. The battle indeed is not against us but against our seed. We need to fight for we shall prevail!
ODE TO THE FATHER
To those unsung heroes, raising kids biological or non, heading and leading homes and families in the nation and world at large, modelling fatherhood and paving a path for generations unfamiliar with this phenomenon to follow, I CELEBRATE YOU.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY.
A new season has come!
